As part of its activities of corporate venturing, B.D.C has decided to support the launch of a Franco-Brazilian investment fund in high-tech. Thus, B.D.C will be the European representative of the fund and will be responsible for relationships with investors and the detection of European internet concepts that could be exported to Brazil.
Internet and software markets still remain emerging in Brazil and offer strong growing opportunities: Brazil is already the 5th most connected country in the world with 70 million of web-surfers! Brazilian consumers are hardly discovering e-business whereas they spend 24h per month surfing on the web.
“ Brazil is two to three years late in relation to Europe as far as the internet is concerned, but the country is quickly catching up: the timing for this fund is excellent, within 2 years, tickets will be much higher and market leaders and pioneers will already hold strong positions, not to say that they will have locked the market ”, Frédéric Poirot states.
“ This fund aims at investing in Brazilian start-ups with high potential, will be created by the end of 2010 or beginning of 2011 and will rely on the experience of Frédéric Poirot, CEO of Constantin International in Brazil, and on Luis Egger, expert in fund management and financial engineering.
"Brazil is up to now an Eldorado for investors and the associates’ strong experience and reliability will be a key factor of success to secure the risks associated to such investors and to coach start-up CEO’s in building up their business” Jérôme Gayet explains.
